[Character name] Yuri Nakamura (Hinata dubs Yuri "Yurippe" because she has the same name as his mom. Soon, most of the other members of the Afterlife Battlefront call her this too.)
[Age] 17. Hasn't aged a day since she arrived in the Afterlife.
[Canon] Angel Beats! (I'll be making references to the manga, Angel Beats! Heaven's Door since it serves as a prequel to the anime).
[Point in time taken from canon] Episode 6: Family Affair. She will come in gravely injured after that battle in the rain with Naoi and the mooks he hypnotized.

[Background]

All I want is to do is fight God if he exists.

[Personality]

It could be said that every decision Yuri made, every action she took while she was in the Afterlife was done in order to get back at God. Even though she was plagued with memories failing to protect her younger siblings, Yuri still stood strong. She had told Otonashi when he asked how she died that someone who was fighting as hard as her won't even think of committing suicide.

She is a very determined individual, taking rather aggressive and sometimes violent approaches to get what she wants. One time, she and Hinata had taken the Principal of the school hostage, thinking that he would have the answers they were looking for. She even considered killing the other students with the logic that if that the action will piss off God enough to make him come out and that Yuri will finally be able to "kick his ass", so to speak.

She can be quite cunning and manipulative, knowing that she won't be able to shoot Chaa at point blank when they had their gun fight. She had ask Angel to be the referee who had intervened before Chaa could shoot Yuri, giving the girl the opening she needed to shoot Chaa, thus winning their battle.

That doesn't mean she's inherently cruel and evil though. She actually does care for the members of the Afterlife Battlefront, going as far to reassure Ototashi that she'll protect him (something she has said and vowed to Hinata repeatedly before the Battlefront was officially created). She also expressed remorse when almost everyone died when they made that trek to Guild headquarters even though they're technically immortal. Because of Hinata's influence, Yuri also created the rule that none of the members of the Battlefront can harm any of the NPC students.

Even though Yuri has displayed that she could be a capable leader, she does have her moments when her ideas fail. One example of this was her "Operation High Tension" where everyone in the Battlefront has to act out everything with gusto. She had stated with full confidence that this will confuse Angel and make her seek out God, which in turn would make God appear... only to be proven wrong spectacularly. This also showed she hates being proven wrong, even going as far as making everyone starve to death due to her mistake.

Yuri could be quite random and eccentric. When she first met Hinata, she kicked him off the school roof, assuming he was trying to see if he could die in the Afterlife. When Otonashi first appeared, she went ranted how the name of the Battlefront kept changing ever since it first formed while aiming a sniper rifle at Angel (she also made a joke at the fact they couldn't die in the Afterlife). Even some of her operations are ridiculous. Operation Tornado is basically them using a gigantic fan in order to lift the NPC's meal tickets! Yuri is still a teenage girl deep down, showing that she has a rather playful side despite her somewhat intimadating nature.

She has quite a temper, not hesitating to kick and/or punch first, ask questions later. This is actually a good tatic dealing with her subordinates who are, in her own words, a "bunch of idiots".

One has to wonder why people still flock to Yuri despite this. Even though she can be quite terrifying, her personality is considered "refreshing". Honestly, would you rather spend time with a bland NPC or with someone who is as fiery and lively as Yuri? She attacks everything head on and with so much zeal, one could not help but want to follow her every step of the way.

[Abilities]

At her core, Yuri is an ordinary teenage girl (with a grudge against God) but during her time as the leader of the Afterlife Battlefront, she has acquired a few skills in her fight against Angel:

  • She is perfectly capable of handling firearms and has a decent shot. The handgun she usually caries is called a Beretta 92FS Brigadier Inox. She carries two of them and is shown to double wield them much later in the series. The other weapons Yuri used in the series can be seen here.

  • She is also quite skilled in one on one combat. She is shown to carry at least two short knives handy in her belt. She's the only one in the group who can hold her own in a fight against Angel.

  • Yuri is a very capable leader even though there are times she doubts herself. She is able to make snap decisions and make predictions of certain scenarios. She had deemed the Guild's decision to keep the Angel Annihilation Traps on even though she and the rest of the Battlefront are heading there themselves the right thing to do because if they didn't, Angel might destroy their weapon reserves.

    [Other important stuff]

Yuri really, really hates natto for some reason. She was really appalled that Hinata would eat something so foul smelling that it rivaled an athlete's foot stench.

Yuri also likes putting her troops through "Punishment Games" whenever an operation she assigns fails. It has been claimed people have gone insane or gone through a complete personality 180 after going through her infamous punishments. It's not wise to piss Yuri Nakamura off. Seriously.

    [Sample post]

    [First Person]

[Yuri walks into the room looking rather miffed. She takes a seat in front of the interview and automatically swings her legs, propping them up on the table. She crosses her arms in front of her chest, giving the man in front of her a glare.]

Let's just get this over with.

[The interviewer clears his throat, looking at his clipboard. The interview has begun.]

Someone is trying to rob you! What do you do?

[This question makes Yuri freeze in her seat. She puts her feet down, sitting up straight, her posture rigid. She puts her head down, not looking the interviewer in the eye.]

    ... Next question.

[The interview tries to coax Yuri into answering the question but she shot him a dark look that made him backpedal.]

    Next. Question.

If someone provoked or attacked you, what would you do?

    Attack back, of course!

[Yuri slams her fist on the table. That broke her out of her stupor from the previous question.]

Ever heard of the saying, "An eye for an eye. A tooth for a tooth"? There's no way I'd stand there and do nothing! [HMPH.]

    [Okay then...]

You see a bloody knife on the floor. What do you do or think?

I'd think that I probably dropped it and then put it back in my belt...

    [Wait a tick-]

... Why do you want to know?

    [Moving on...]

    Can you surpass God?

... [At this question, Yuri throw her head back and laughs. It sounded hysterical and bitter at the same time.]

No, not yet. But I'm going to die trying.

Oh look, there's a double rainbow!

EHHH?? [Yuri looks over to where the interviewer pointed. And then glancing back, her expression livid.] What the hell?!

    Also, your thoughts on symmetry?

What's that got to do with anything?!!

Am I asking too many personal or strange questions?

    What do you think, asshole??

    [Third Person]

Yuri took a deep breath, steeling herself before pressing a button on the Dreamberry that turns on the video function. Bright green eyes greet the viewer before the girl pulled back, showing that she had a rather serious expression on her face while pulling on a white burret on her head. It was almost nostalgic, taking Yuri back whenever she brief her troops in the principal's office back in the school. But there was no time to reminisce, making Yuri shake her head in order to make her focus on the current task at hand.

She cleared her throat and finally spoke with the same authoritative tone she used whenever she would give out a new mission.

"Somarium." She gave a curt nod to the camera before continuing. "For anyone who doesn't know who I am, my name is Yuri Nakamura and I've been here..." she made a face, something akin to a smile before her expression became serious again. "A while."

"I know some of you are content living here, being trapped in your heads, in your dreams but not me." Yuri shook her head, gaining momentum in her speech. "No... No, I won't stand for it! Everyone, open your eyes and remember what you were doing before you got here. Remember who's responsible for everything."

"Overlord!" She suddenly slammed her fist, as if the action would invoke the presence of the dream world's supposed ruler. "I know you're listening! No matter what you throw at us, the weird ass events, the monsters, whatever it may be... you will not bring us down. And goddammit, we are finding a way out of this hell hole."

Yuri paused, taking deep breaths to calm herself down. She cleared her throat again and said: "My name is Yuri Nakamura. Remember that name, Overlord."

And with that, Yuri ended the video feed.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I'd like to see how Yuri will react to an environment completely different from the Afterlife. Over there, she had the advantage of knowing how the world works. If brought to Somarium, she would have to change her way of thinking pretty quickly and adapt. She would actually figure out a way to disappear here in Somarium so that she can get back to running her battlefront.

[Which rule was your favorite and why?] Magical Pregnancy Protection! It always have been ever since I started playing here. 8|b

[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Amanda introduced it to me! /o/

[Any questions?] I just want to know if the rules of death in the Afterlife won't apply once Yuri gets to Somarium. In her world, they're practically immortal. They do heal after getting injured or killed, but they still feel the pain of it.
