You weren't...? [Very, very smooth. Why does he get the feeling that this book is something she doesn't want people to know about?

Souji steps back, still giving her that ??? look that the rest of Team RWBY would be giving her if they found out about her 'interests'.]

[She just. So thankful that no one from Beacon has caught her with this book in her possession. orz And, he would be right about that feeling. Someone like Blake doesn't seem like the type who would devour a "series" like this.]

No... [She shakes her head, still trying to play it cool.] I'm just. Browsing.

[Nailed it!]

Just browsing.

["Just browsing", when her hand clearly showed the intent to grab this book? He can't quite believe that, but...it's probably better if he gives her the benefit of the doubt here. Wouldn't want to embarrass the poor girl in public...]

Alright then...if you're sure.

[...He does stare at the book, though, looking like one of those people who may have never actually seen a book of this questionable caliber as he does. Except he has seen this kind of trashy novel and it was in the form of a vampire book, but details. Fact of the matter is, while he's glimpsed into the abyss at least once, he's at least hopeful that this will be a decent read. One that wasn't schoolbook reading, anyway -- he gets more than enough of that in class and for his homework as it is...

Still, it's not long before he turns towards her again. She looked like a local...maybe she could answer a few of his questions, mundane and otherwise later, when they weren't making the atmosphere awkward.]

Is this an aisle you look at often? [...okay, that might not have been the best ice breaker he could have thought of, or one that helped take the weight of the whole "Ninjas In Love" issue off, even by a bit...but they had to start somewhere.]
