[He visibly flinches the second he hears her voice, and the color just drains right out of his face. Great ... ]

Floor, actually ... s-sorry. Couldn't get to sleep. You don't mind if, I ... y'know ... take this half, right? I'm not gonna try and pull any funny stuff or anything, I promise ... just can't sleep down there.

[pishirogane]

[For a moment, there's no response. Perhaps she's asleep again, but she speaks up eventually.]

Fine. I hold you to your word. [Kanji wasn't Yosuke or Teddie, and while he wasn't Senpai, she figures he was least likely to do anything. Head turning away again, she settles herself once more to resume sleep.]

[He blinks, feeling ... surprised, or something? But in a good way. It was nice to know that she trusted him enough that she was okay with this.

[It didn't make him feel any less weird, being this close to her. He was sticking close to the edge of the bed, but he was still feeling uncomfortably warm. Every once in a while, he'd shift, trying some new position to see if he'd get to sleep, but he always faced away from her, like if he didn't look at her, he'd just forget and he could finally get some goddamn shut-eye.]

[pishirogane]

[Though her breathing was light again and her back towards him, she honestly wasn't asleep. His shifting was making the bed jump and rocking her half. He wanted to share and she didn't mind, but if he didn't stop, she was going to force him back on the floor.]

Kanji-kun, stop moving.

[give_em_the_chair]

Right. Uh, sorry...

[And now he just felt like a dumbass. He sighs, stops shifting around, and lies still, closing his eyes and trying to sleep. He waits long enough, he's gonna fall asleep eventually, right? He's just gotta relax, and wait ...]

[pishirogane]

[Glancing back and seeing that he finally stopped moving, she turns away. It's warmer; probably just due to Kanji's presence. Anyway, eyes closed and a soft exhale, Naoto slips back to sleep quickly, quietly. Only faint breathing escapes her shortly with her half rising and falling.]

God, Teddie is going to give them so much shit in the morning.

[It wasn't coming as easy for him. It was like her just being there was keeping him awake, like he was running on nerves or something. He might as well have stayed on the floor for all the good it was doing him. He exhales softly, and just keeps trying. He tries not to think about anything, or move, just waiting for sleep.

[As he just lies there, waiting, his wandering mind eventually settles on the gentle sound of Naoto's breath in and out. As her sides slowly rose and fall with each breath, he felt himself getting more and more tired, the uncomfortable warmth he always seem to feel around her slowly melting away as that soft rhythm rolled on, slowly lulling him to sleep.]

One thing to be awakened in the middle of the night, but Teddie in the AM...

[Naoto doesn't notice him finally fall asleep, beginning to get into the REM state finally. Actually, it had been some time since she had drifted into a deeper sleep state. Hopefully, it would go relatively undisturbed.]

That is true hell.

[Yeah. Kanji's not a snorer. The weird thing though, is his dreams. It's something right out of a noir movie or something. A detective wandering through dark city streets, after a killer, getting help from a street punk.]

Both of them will be in trouble

[Naoto dreams of a day away from work. A warm fire, tea, and a good book. There's someone there though. While she occupies the chair, they're sleeping on the couch. Who it is is certainly a mystery.]
