[ He sighs, here. Really. Is that all? He'd expected something smarter. ]
Do you really think they won't suffer? Do you think you can kill every last Witch? Millions suffer every day--and Witches are hardly the root of all suffering in humanity. That would be human nature itself. Disaster. Unfair lives. If you think you're going to change that, you're naive. ... Which, really, is a bit of a shame--because you just don't strike me as the type to be that foolish.
... Wouldn't it be better to be with someone who appreciates you than fight a futile battle that will make no difference?
[Mami found herself just standing there, his words stroke a chord in her heart. Has all every she had been fighting for a lie? Maybe she was only hiding behind her magic to hide the guilt she felt for not saving her parents. She sends her musket away, feeling her knees buckle beneath her.]
[ ... He'll crouch, here, noting her falling. He's so close... yes, this is what he wants. Soon... he wants her to be his ideal Princess. ]
... You're hardly alone, Miss Tomoe... no, Mami.
[ Here, he will smile. ]
This world... how it is... that is my point. Why would you ever want to fight when we could be friends? I can protect you, you know. From that cruel world that you can't even be a part of, save to slave for its protection. Why go home to an empty apartment? You could stay here, with me.
[ While that may be true... he does, in a strange way, care for all his women. He'll put a hand to her cheek to wipe away one of those tears, just as they fall. ]
... Because you're a beautiful, sad girl fighting by herself, pretending to be fine. ... Like someone else I used to know. Isn't it about time you let someone else protect you, for a change?
[Her shoulders started to shake, a sob escaping her. It was as if the dam that kept all her emotions in check broke, all of the carefully crafted restraint she had built up during her time fighting as a Puella Magi vanished completely. Mami cried her heart out, unknowingly leaning into his comforting touch. Even she had no idea that she had held in the pain, the loneliness she felt for so long.
In that moment, she was no longer thinking about her duty or about protecting other people. Mami Tomoe was now merely a heartbroken girl, finally letting herself grieve over for what she had lost.]
[ ... He lets her cry for a moment, before getting to his own knees and putting his arms around her. He hopes she won't freak out at the hug, but really, she seems to need one.
Perhaps he's destructive, but in his own way, he's giving these girls better lives than fighting alone against other witches. Here, he can promise them love and attention without any responsibility... ]
It's okay.
[ Two very simple words. And it is--it's okay to cry, to be a little weak. His embrace is oddly warm, for a witch. ]
[There was a brief moment of surprise when he knelt down to hug her. It made Mami pause, her mind reeling and trying to catch up with what was happening. Her hand twitched at her sides before her arms moved on their own, wrapping tightly around him as she buried her face into the crook of his neck.]
[She hiccups, fluttering her eyes shut to let the last few remaining tears fall. Mami then sighs, absently nuzzling him, finding so much comfort in his warmth.
It was strange. He felt... solid, real; more like a man than a witch, really. She wasn't sure if it was her imagination or not, but she could have sworn she could feel his pulse, thumping lightly under her fingertips. The realization that she could practically feel and sense his heartbeat made the young girl flush, shyly burying her face even deeper into him.
[ ... Well, witches come from magical girls, who were quite real. Maybe it's not impossible for a familiar to be real. He might be a witch now, but he's still fairly real. He's a shapeshifter, of course, and he'd been prepared to kill this duplicate body, but...
Oh, well. It's being put to good use. He'll hold her, and he doesn't seem to mind. She will find he smells a lot of flowers and tea. He's very calm about all this, for someone who was trying to kill him not that long ago. It's odd. ]
[It was odd. But it was starting to sound and look more appealing the longer she stayed in his arms like this. She found herself inhaling against her better judgement, his scent slowly engulfing her senses, making her sigh in contentment. The smell was familiar to her somehow... She couldn't quite put her finger on it just yet, probably because it started to make her feel a bit dizzy, lightheaded, like a haze was slowly clouding her mind. Mami welcomed the sensation, however.
And then it hit her.] Black tea... and orange blossoms...
[ Indeed. That haze... that was his power. It was so easy to be whatever the one he was after wanted most, after all. It came as second nature to him, as a creature born of desires and magic. ]
As I am rather fond of both, I don't think it's very surprising. ... Were you not expecting it...?
[ And, gently, he will put a hand on her head, smiling down at her. His words and his touch are so caring; it's not hard to see how easily he's gotten to so many women. ]
... You don't have to go back, you know. That Soul Gem of yours... do you know what taints it easiest? Despair. Unhappiness. Negativity. Being on your own... is a lonely feeling.
[ He talks like he knows it, too. Which he does. ]
Everything... I ever wanted... [She repeated his words, the haze in her mind has completely taken over. All she could think about, all she ever wanted now was him. No one else even matters now. He's got her under his thum and there's no backing out now.
Love... her arms tightened around him when she heard the word. When was it the last she had ever felt that?]
[ ... He will smile gently and embrace her proper. It's okay. She'll be safe here. She can finally rely on someone. That's who he wants to be. The one to be relied on... only... him... ]
I don't intend to, Mami.
[ Really, he doesn't. In his own way, he thinks, no, he knows, he's helping these girls, and Mami was another lonely Puella Magi fighting for a cause that was pointless... wasn't it better to rescue her? And when the time came he'd just kill her instead of letting her become a Witch, a pitiful existence.
Oh, some of them did become Witches... but no, she didn't need that. ]

[Even a mere touch of his hand to her hair is making her blush. At this rate, there's no way of her wanting to go back. Ever.]
Staying here, with you... Will it make me happy?

... I can give you everything you never had, Mami... and all the things you want. I can give you happiness. Company. Love.
[ His smile is... so gentle and caring, like a prince. And he really believes those words... like any delusional Witch believes their mission. ]
You don't have to fight alone, you know. ... Not everything you encounter... is evil.
